Objectives

The general aim of the Research Group Thermal Energy Engineering is:

IMPROVE THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF THE HVAC SYSTEMS OF BUILDINGS PROVIDING CONDITIONS OF THERMAL COMFORT AND INDOOR AIR QUALITY

The specific objectives are:

  1. Reduce the energy consumption in buildings, decreasing the environmental impact due to the use of energy in buildings, using alternative energy sources, methodologies for energy recovery, and collaborating with public administrations for the development of regulations for buildings that secure an efficient energy consumption.
  2. Analyze the indoor environment conditions that allow to improve the surrounding environment where the human activities are carried out, making compatible the best degree of comfort with the optimal primary energy consumption.
  3. Disseminate all those technical aspects and research results by publishing articles and contributions to congresses both national and international, so the derived research results can be utilized by other researchers and technicians, with common aim of reduce the energy consumption in buildings keeping an adequate degree of comfort.
  4. Disseminate the acquired knowledge through specific courses about the fields of research. That is, training courses about HVAC systems, Indoor Environment Quality, Building Energy Labeling, Solar Thermal Energy Systems, etc.
